Australia’s red meat supply chain group, the Red Meat Advisory Council (RMAC) has today welcomed Minister Littleproud’s new funding to protect Australia’s borders and Australia’s 75,000 red meat businesses.

Independent Chair of RMAC, Mr Don Mackay, said biosecurity was vital to the prosperity and sustainability of Australia’s 18-billion-dollar red meat farming, lotfeeding, retailing, manufacturing and export industry.

“We have called for Minister Littleproud to improve frontline policing of our biosecurity and imported food in our 2018 – 2019 Budget Submission and in Feeding Our Nation 2018.”

“This new funding for better biosecurity intelligence, intervention and innovation for our vibrant Aussie red meat industry and Australian customers is most welcomed and shows a Minister and a Government that is listening.”

“We look forward to continuing to our great relationship with Minister Littleproud and thank him for beefing up biosecurity.”
