Our Sustainable Future

RMAC is committed to driving forward the longevity and prosperity of the Australian beef industry from paddock to plate, and this involves long-term strategy and proactive thinking.

We strongly believe that, through the power of collective working, we can unlock $7 billion in growth for businesses over the next 12 years. We have two key plans in place to realise this vision; the Meat Industry Strategic plan 2020 (MISP 2020) and The Australian Beef Sustainability Framework (ABSF).

Meat Industry Strategic Plan 2020

Together with our nine industry steakholders, we launched MISP2020 in 2015, which aims to contribute to the Australian community and economy so it is further:

  • Respected for its stewardship of livestock
  • Rewarded for its quality products
  • Recognised for its environmental credentials

Through research from the Centre for International Economics, the MISP2020, identified all areas of a coordinated approach to industry investment across research, marketing, policy and advocacy.

Australian Beef Sustainability Framework

Launched in 2017, The ABSF, or ‘The Framework’ aims to create a thriving industry that improves the wellbeing of people, animals and the environment. It answers the high accountability the red meat industry has to Australian consumers and the community.

It focuses on priorities within:

With The Framework’s guidance, our red meat supply chain can continue to produce sustainable Australian beef that is more socially, environmentally and economically responsible.
